Rob is doing a really emotional show dedicated to one of Victoria's big ska scene founders, Matt Bishop. Matt was a lifeguard at the camp I attended and later volunteered at. As I recall, he died in a tragic rock climbing accident. He lost his life saving friends of his.

It seems like everyone is in a sad mood today. I played a lot of sad songs too, only mine were more mopey than sad. And being mopey (in terms of music) is fairly indulgent for me.

I'm going to say my show ended there because neither Wildbirds and Peacedrums nor Miss Murgatroid & Petra Haden are really Gumdrops and Lollipops content. The former is pagan; the latter rather medieval.

Tired of the same-old

Same old blahg. Same old radio show. I am tired of them. I am excited for Ryan to come back so that my show will again be only an hour - the extra 30 minutes dilutes my content.

Maybe I'll make my posts here more fun, too. You know, write about my favourite children's television shows etc. so that you can collect them like the fangirls and fanboys you are. I'm not tired of writing about music. I would just like some freedom to branch out.

So. Here are two recipes that I am making Cody try out tonight (unless he wants to try something else in which case I'll comply because I was mean to him last night):

Watermelon Granita

Ingredients:1/2 cup water, 1 cup sugar, Juice of two limes, 6 cups of cubed watermelon and 1/4 cup of vodka.
Steps: Make a syrup of the water and sugar-let cool
Puree the watermelon, mix with the syrup, lime juice, and vodka
Place in a flat container to freeze
Stir the granita with a fork as it freezes
Fluff the granita with a fork before serving
