A bunch of songs were things the twee.net indiepop list poll for 2007 was trying to tell me I missed out on during the year. The Jens Lekman was for Danny because he wanted to hear some rarities. Check out Danny's band here. (Hey, they're finally releasing something! And they're playing with Brent Randell of my favourite Halifax label Just Friends at Logan's in March too!) The Jesus and Mary Chain was because Stephin Merritt of the Magnetic Fields thinks Psychocandy is great and I do too. The Magnetic Fields was because Distortion recently came out and last week I didn't yet have it, but my boy gave it to me as a birthday present yesterday hooray. (On that note, the Marriage comp is still nowhere to be found... grr.) Best song on the show this week was "Hit the Heartbreaks" which I can't stop playing over and over again.

Someone called in and asked me what "twee" was. How am I supposed to answer a question that it took Pitchfork three lengthy pages to answer in one minute over the phone? I hope my answer was satisfactory and not too snobby sounding. If you still don't understand, or are just interested, have you ever checked out my links page? Or, like, tuned in to the show...

Crooked Fingers/ Red Devil Dawn/ boy with (100) hands

All Girl Summer Fun Band/ 2/ million things
Say Hi/ The Wishes and the Glitch/ Northwestern Girls
The Bartlebees & Anja/ A House Full of Friends/ Ne Me Quitte Pas

*Request/ dedication, I swear, although I did get to choose the song. For Dani. (Danny?)

Can I just say that I'm unspeakably excited about the new Magnetic Fields? Do you have it yet? I refuse to listen before it's in my hands, but anything by Stephin Merritt which is supposed to sound Psychocandy-esque makes my heart go--oh shit, Ryan just read my mind. He's playing it right now...

Other Albums I Need to Buy (Because I Keep Forgetting): Scarboro Acquarium Club/ Black Swan Days, My Teenage Stride/ Ears Like Golden Bats, Magic Marker Records/ A House Full of Friends, and the list goes on and on.

I wanted to play the Marriage Records comp for a special someone but an unknown radio insider has stolen it already, or else it's just lost. Suck.

Are you going to see Jens Lekman at his upcoming shows in Australia, Europe, and the US? Please take me.

Reasons why...

...people are great:

-someone does a radio fill-in for you at the last minute
-some people feed you dinner
-some buy you polysporin, tylenol, and vitamin e oil
-someone holds you while you cry
-they tell you you're beautiful at moments when you're not
-and others leave you alone

The Endless Bummer/ Panty Boy/ Balacade/ Desks show went off really well. It felt like friends from the past, present, and future were all there, or were thought of and missed. Bands were great, venue was great, tech and set-up/ clean-up help was great. Thaaaanks.
